Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay) and Sai Kung East Country Park offer hikers unparalleled vistas, sparkling waters and stunning mountain scenery. This outdoor adventure begins with a short ferry ride to the remote fishing village of Ko Lau Wan.
Walking through the village you’ll pass old Taoist shrines. Your climb gets steeper as you head in the direction of Sharp Peak. The climb up the trail offers spectacular coastal and mountain views. Be adventurous and climb Sharp Peak! Standing 468 metres tall, it provides a view you’ll never see on any postcard! Then it’s down to Tai Long Wan with one of the finest beaches in Hong Kong.

After an optional swim, it’s time for lunch at the village of Ham Tin before heading back along another trail to catch a boat back to town.
Wu Kau Tang / Tai Po & Plover Cove Country Park
The Plover Cove area in the northeast of the New Territories is one of the most under populated and pristine areas in all of Hong Kong. Your hike starts in the tiny hamlet of Wu Kau Tang. The walk proceeds upwards towards a fire lookout, providing exciting views across the boundary into Mainland China and of the Yan Chau Tong Marine Park. You then descend to the deserted village of Lai Chi Wo.
Following the coastline, you can admire some of the oldest geological formations in the area, dating back 400 million years. Along the way you will pass abandoned rice fields and terracing once cultivated by the villagers. We follow the stream back to our transportation into town.
